If the FAQ below doesn't answer your questions (or you just have something to say), use this form:
OK, your question may not be here. Ask! If we wanted to keep it a secret, we wouldn't have a website.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The simple answer is $45 per year ($25 for Tiger Cubs). Of course, nothing is ever that simple. The BSA's policy is never to exclude a boy because of financial difficulties. Talk to us.
Q: Is my boy eligible? Where does he belong?
A: A scouting program is available to any boy between the ages of 7 and 18. Generally speaking, cub scouts are 7-10 years old or in grades 1-5. Boy scouts are older than cub scouts, but under 18. There is also a Venturer scout program for young men and women from 14-20.
Q: My boy is too old for Cub Scouts. How do I get in touch with a Boy Scout troop?
A: There are two Boy Scout troops in Lansdowne. Pack 66 boys usually move into Troop 63, which also meets at First Presbyterian Church of Lansdowne. You can contact Scoutmaster Van Bond at 610-623-6936 for more information. The other troop, Troop 333, meets at St. Philomena's Lower School on Baltimore Pike. Contact Scoutmaster Bernie Donnelly at 610-623-7294 for information.
Q: My boy is actually a girl. What now?
A: Try here: http://www.geocities.com/brownietroop9/
Q: What is the BSA?
A: BSA stands for Boy Scouts of America. According to the BSA's federal charter, " . . . the purpose of this corporation shall be to promote, through organization and cooperation with other agencies, the ability of boys to do things for themselves and others, to train them in Scoutcraft, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues, using the methods which are now in common use by Boy Scouts." That was June 15, 1916, and while all of those things are still held very dearly, it has broadened its scope. Current scout programs also encourage good health, cooperation, occupational skills, etc.
